  • Several re-boots later... Actually, it looks like my mouse has had it. This will probably be my last update until I can get a new mouse...

Source: Chuosha. I don't normally write about all the "big announcements" which are foreshadowed in manga magazines, but I just wonder what it'll be this time...

  • The August 2004 issue of Comic Birz magazine (out today) gives more details of the TV anime version of the manga Rozen Maiden (by Peach-Pit and serialised in Comic Birz). • Don't know if this is news but this infoseek anime report (citing Sankei Sports) confirms that Steam Boy will be released in cinemas in the US by December 2004 (so that it can be nominated for next year's Academy Awards). Further, Innocence is to be released theatrically in the US in September 2004. It's also stated that the version of Steam Boy which is screened in the US will have English subtitles. But then it states that the roles of Ray and Scarlet will be voiced by big Hollywood stars. I don't understand... Though the report does continue that there'll be two versions prepared: the US version will be the same length as the Japanese version (and aimed at Otomo fans); the "family market" version will be under two hours long (and aimed at ordinary movie goers).

Main characters will be Sagawa Akina and Mashita Futaba. Source: Moon Phase. No mention of any anime. As I pointed out before, it seemed to be fan assumptions that Onegai Friends would be an anime - there's never been any confirmation of that. Whether the drama CD is the precursor to an anime (which isn't too uncommon) we shall have to wait and see.

  • Another bishoujo TV anime based on a computer game. • Back in early November last year, I wrote about the super robot adventure game Kishin Houkou Demonbane (Deus Machina Demonbane) for the Playstation 2 which would come with OVA. It'll now be released on 1 July 2004. There'll be a limited DX pack (comes with bonus Nitro+ DVD, design works booklet and cards - price 10,290 yen including tax) and a regular edition (price 8,190 yen including tax). In the middle of the page you'll see four links, arranged two by two. The links in the left hand column are for best quality (ie larger size files). The top links are a movie clip from the game. The bottom links are a trailer for the OVA. If you wish to check out more movie clips for the game, visit this page on the official website. ultimatum also refers to this Dengeki Online.com report which has a promotion movie for the OVA to download. I don't know if it's the same trailer as on the Chara-Ani.com site - I haven't bothered to download both myself. Anyway, to try the Dengeki Online.com movie, visit the page linked. There are two links in the middle of the page: the top one is better quality but double the file size (29Mb).
