- Shin Seiki Evangelion Art Trading Card
Book. This book, due out on 22 March
2002, comprises trading cards illustrated by
Sadamoto Yoshiyuki. There will be 64 of the
trading cards, containing the newest, previously
unpublished illustrations by Sadamoto, but since
each book only comes with 32 trading cards,
you'll need to buy at least 2 copies of the book
to get all 64 cards. Published by Kadokawa
Shoten, price 2 000 yen.
- The delayed Shin Seiki Evangelion EXTRA
2002.4-2003.3 calendar is now due out on
15 March 2002, and as the name suggests will
cover the period April 2002 to March 2003. It
includes a digest of scenes from the manga
version of Evangelion, NERV memo paper, character
designs by Sadamoto Yoshiyuki and plans for an
unknown episode. This will be a small, but thick,
block (desktop) calendar, not simply a few large
illustrations to hang up. Published by Kadokawa
Shoten, price 1 800 yen, B6 size.
- Egawa Tatsuya's "Ero Pop" art
book has been delayed yet again. It's
now due out on 25 February 2002.
- New seinen manga magazine by Wani
Magazines. The first issue of monthly
Waruzou magazine is due on 18 January

Contributors include Egawa Tatsuya (Golden Boy),
Kurebayashi Nao, Akana Tadashi, Natsumoto Masato
(Lodoss Wars), Tenjiku Rounin, Shibata Masahiro (Sarai),
Owada Hideki, OKAWARI, Kimura Chika, Sanbe Kei,
Yamada Naito, Terada Katsuya (full colour manga),
Isutoshi (Slut Girl) and Kiryu Tomohiko. To
commemorate the first issue, a digital art
collection CD-ROM will be included, with works by
Range Murata, Terada Katsuya, Tsukasa Jun, OKAMA
and Hiryuran. Roughly 280 pages. Price 350 yen.
- Also due out on 18 January 2002 is volume 3 of
the manga R.O.D by Kurata
Hideyuki and Yamada Shutaro, serialised in
monthly Ultrajump magazine. Yay!
- 12 January 2002 sees the release of volume 2 of
the manga Chikyu Misaki by
Iwahara Yuji, serialised in monthly Ace Next
magazine. I love the artwork of this story about
Makishima Misaki, who moves to the town of Hohoro
with her father. With new friend Sanae, Misaki
discovers the Loch Ness Monster-like Hohopo,
which when kissed turns into the boy Neo (named
by Misaki on the spur of the moment after the
Keanu Reeves character in the Matrix).
